Shailja Verghese has stepped down from her role as Chief Content Officer at Omnicom Media Group (OMG) India, marking one of the first major senior exits as the network prepares for organisational realignment following Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG. Industry sources indicate, however, that her departure is not connected to the consolidation efforts currently underway.
OMG is in the midst of a significant restructuring phase as global teams and capabilities from both networks begin to integrate. Despite the broader shifts across the organisation, Verghese’s decision is understood to be independent of these changes. Details regarding her next professional move have not yet been shared. Storyboard18 has reached out to both Verghese and OMG India for comments and will update the story once responses are available.
A respected leader in content strategy, Verghese-also known as Shailja Saraswati Verghese-brings nearly two decades of experience across television, digital content, and streaming platforms. She has held senior roles at ZEE5, Wavemaker SEA, National Geographic Channels, Discovery Communications and the UTV Network, contributing to media operations across the Asia-Pacific region.
Verghese joined OMG India in 2021 as Head of Content and was later elevated to Chief Content Officer. During her tenure, she played a key role in unifying the network’s content operations under the “OMG Content” umbrella, aligning creative storytelling with data-led insights for brands across OMD, PHD and other Omnicom agencies.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she has served on global juries, including the Cannes Entertainment Festival, and sits on advisory boards such as the Content Marketing Summit APAC. She also hosts a podcast and engages in mindfulness education, reflecting her broader commitment to creative and personal development.
Her exit arrives at a pivotal moment for the industry, as Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG is expected to reshape agency structures and content mandates. Verghese’s next chapter remains highly anticipated.
