JSW Paints Rebrands Akzo Nobel India as JSW Dulux

Akzo Nobel India has officially been renamed JSW Dulux after receiving approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). The decision marks a significant step in the transition of the paints business following JSW Paints’ acquisition of a majority stake in the company.

According to a regulatory filing, the MCA issued a fresh Certificate of Incorporation on March 11, 2026, confirming the company’s name change from Akzo Nobel India Ltd to JSW Dulux Ltd. The change became effective immediately from the same date.

Following the approval, the company has also updated its Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association to reflect the new corporate identity. These amendments formally align the company’s legal and operational documents with the new brand name.

The rebranding comes a few months after JSW Paints, part of the $23 billion JSW Group, completed its acquisition of a 60.76% stake in Akzo Nobel India on December 10, 2025. The stake was purchased through a share purchase agreement involving Imperial Chemical Industries Limited and Akzo Nobel Coatings International BV. After the transaction, JSW Paints became the promoter and holding company of the business.

Earlier, on January 28, 2026, the board of Akzo Nobel India had approved the proposal to rename the company JSW Dulux, subject to regulatory approvals. With the MCA’s confirmation now in place, the transition has been formally completed.

The move reflects JSW Paints’ strategic push to strengthen its presence in India’s competitive paints market while leveraging the strong brand recognition associated with Dulux.
