GTPL Hathway to Acquire ACT Group’s Cable TV Business in ₹36.23 Crore Deal

GTPL Hathway to Acquire ACT Group’s Cable TV Business in ₹36.23 Crore Deal

GTPL Hathway has signed an agreement to acquire the cable television business of seven ACT Group companies for an aggregate cash consideration of ₹36.23 crore, in a move that strengthens its footprint across southern and eastern India.

Executed through a business transfer agreement, the deal covers the cable TV operations of A.C.N Cable, ACT Digital Home Entertainment, Atria Broadband Services, Kable First India, Sri Venkateshwara Digital Home Entertainment, Mandapeta Digital Entertainment and I.B. Communications Network. Together, these businesses serve approximately 6 lakh cable television subscribers across multiple cities in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Karnataka.

The acquisition will be structured as a slump sale on a going-concern basis and forms part of GTPL’s broader strategy to expand its cable television presence in key regional markets. The company said the transaction does not require any regulatory or government approvals and is expected to be completed by September 15, 2026.

GTPL also clarified that the deal does not qualify as a related-party transaction, confirming that none of its promoters, promoter group entities or group companies hold any interest in the ACT Group entities involved.

With this acquisition, GTPL Hathway adds a substantial subscriber base across four states, reinforcing its position in the cable TV segment at a time when the industry continues to navigate competition from DTH and streaming platforms. The deal marks another step in GTPL’s ongoing consolidation strategy within India’s regional cable television market, particularly in southern and eastern geographies where ACT Group has an established presence.
