Safed Detergent has rolled out an Independence Day campaign centred on a police inspector who chooses empathy over authority while on duty at a student protest.

The film opens with a woman waking up early, packing her tiffin and rushing to work. When her daughter asks why she can’t take the day off, she explains she needs to reach the location before the minister arrives – revealing her as a police inspector deployed at a protest site.
A group of students is protesting, refusing to leave until the minister meets them. As they wait, the inspector tells them he’ll arrive in 15 minutes and offers them her own tiffin.
When the minister arrives, he questions whether the protesting students are her own children. She responds, “Yeh bhi toh kisi ke bachche hain na, sir” (They are someone’s children too) – reframing the moment from authority to care.
The ad closes on Safed Detergent’s tagline: “Na koi daag, na koi bhed, ek maa ka dil hai sabse Safed.”
While the setting may evoke recent conversation around student protests and police conduct, including demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, the brand stops short of naming any specific protest, party or incident.
The campaign comes from Safed Detergent, manufactured by Shantinath Detergents Pvt. Ltd. (Safechem Industries), with a presence across eastern and north-eastern India.
