Orient Electric’s Independence Day Film Calls Out India’s “Chalta Hai” Culture

Orient Electric has launched its Independence Day campaign, ‘Chalta Hai, Ab Nahi Chalega’, turning the everyday habit of accepting small compromises into the film’s central conflict.

The campaign follows a young boy who observes his father, mother and grandfather brushing off minor lapses with a casual “chalta hai.” Over time, he starts using the phrase himself – a moment that forces the family to confront the behaviour they’ve unknowingly passed down to him.

Anika Agarwal, company spokesperson, said families often talk about the future they want for their children, yet rarely examine the small habits they end up transmitting instead. She noted that normalising minor compromises at home quietly lowers the bar for the next generation.

She added that the campaign is meant to spark a shift in mindset, positioning it as an extension of Orient Electric’s commitment to uncompromised quality and thoughtful innovation – a call to hold higher standards in choices, homes and the legacy families pass on.

The film will run across social media, out-of-home placements and live-animation digital billboards through the Independence Day period, aiming to get families talking about compromises they’ve stopped noticing, while tying the brand’s values of quality and refusal to settle to everyday life.
