Swiggy Dineout Brings Food Delivery Straight to Your Cinema Seat

Swiggy Dineout has launched ‘Order-in-Cinemas’, a new in-app feature that lets moviegoers order food directly to their theatre seats, marking its entry into a fresh corner of the eating-out space. The rollout kicks off in partnership with multiplex chains Cinepolis and Asian Cinemas across multiple screens, alongside PoS aggregators Impact (run by UFO Moviez) and Showbizz, with further aggregator integrations underway.

The experience is built around a simple four-step flow: Scan, Browse, Order & Pay, and Delivery. Moviegoers scan a QR code inside the cinema hall, browse the venue’s food menu on the Swiggy Dineout app, place an order, and have it delivered right to their seat, skipping snack-counter queues entirely. The app also lets users browse upcoming releases, trailers, posters, booking links, and event promotions alongside the food menu.

For cinemas, the feature opens up a new revenue stream by pushing up average spend per head and creating orders that wouldn’t otherwise exist, while PoS partners get a plug-and-play integration into their existing systems.

Swapnil Bajpai, CEO of Swiggy Dineout & Scenes, said the goal was to make food ordering a seamless part of the movie-watching experience rather than a disruption to it, calling the tie-up with Cinepolis, Asian Cinemas, and aggregator partners a step toward expanding how consumers engage with Swiggy. Executives from Cinepolis, UFO Moviez, and Asian Cinemas echoed similar sentiments, pointing to early positive response from both cinema staff and audiences since the feature went live.

The offering also enables cinemas to push personalised combos and cross-sell food and beverages more effectively to moviegoers.
