Reliance Consumer Products enters ice cream market with Bombay Creamery

Reliance Consumer Products has forayed into India’s competitive ice cream category with the launch of Bombay Creamery, expanding its growing portfolio of consumer-facing brands.

According to media reports, the new ice cream brand will offer products starting at Rs 10, with a portfolio spanning cones, cups, tubs, bars and sticks. The pricing strategy is aimed at catering to a broad consumer base, from value-conscious buyers to those seeking more premium options.

Bombay Creamery has initially been introduced across western India and is expected to expand its presence nationwide over the coming months.

The launch further strengthens Reliance’s presence in the fast-growing FMCG space, following its expansion across beverages, grocery, snacks and confectionery. Its portfolio includes brands such as Campa and Independence.

The company’s entry comes at a time when India’s ice cream market is witnessing increasing competition, with established players including Amul, Vadilal, Mother Dairy and Arun Icecreams, along with international brands such as Magnum and Baskin-Robbins.

The category has been gaining momentum on the back of rising disposable incomes, premiumisation and improved cold-chain infrastructure, particularly across smaller cities.

With its wide distribution network and value-led pricing approach, Reliance’s entry could add further pressure to incumbents and reshape competition in the ice cream segment.
