Blinkit has rolled out a striking hyper-local out-of-home campaign in Ahmedabad, marking Janmashtami with a creative billboard built around a giant 3D matki (curd pot) installation.
The board greets the city directly with “Happy Janmashtami, Ahmedabad!”, paired with Blinkit’s branding and its tagline, “India’s Last Minute App.” The standout element is the oversized matki – rendered in vivid green, red, and yellow tones with traditional floral and leaf motifs – that physically extends beyond the flat surface of the billboard, giving the creative a striking 3D, festive presence against the city skyline. The marigold garland and dollop of curd detailing at the top of the matki add an extra layer of authenticity, mirroring the real pots used in traditional Janmashtami celebrations and Dahi Handi festivities.
Beyond the visual spectacle, the campaign carries a clear commercial hook: “Get festive essentials delivered at your doorstep,” positioning Blinkit as the go-to platform for last-minute Janmashtami shopping – from festive decor to puja essentials – reinforcing its core promise of ultra-fast delivery during a culturally significant moment.
The execution reflects a broader trend among quick-commerce platforms of leaning into hyper-local, culturally rooted OOH creatives to build relevance in specific cities during festive periods, rather than relying on generic pan-India messaging. By directly naming the city and building the entire creative around a recognisable festival symbol, Blinkit’s Janmashtami billboard turns a simple greeting into a memorable, scroll-stopping piece of real-world branding – one that blends festive sentiment with sharp commercial intent.
