Sneaker Brand Comet Raises ₹100 Crore As It Gears Up For Retail Push

Homegrown sneaker brand Comet has raised ₹100 crore in a Series B funding round led by VerlInvest, marking a significant step up in its growth trajectory.

The round saw continued backing from existing investors Elevation Capital and Nexus Venture Partners, alongside participation from angel investors Abhiraj Singh Bhal, Ajit Mohan, and Anand Ahuja – a mix that signals sustained confidence in the brand from both institutional and individual backers who’ve tracked its journey so far.

Comet is expected to channel the fresh capital into stepping up retail expansion, strengthening its product and technology capabilities, and deepening research and development efforts. A notable focus area is investment in proprietary sole moulds and tooling, infrastructure the brand will need to design and launch new footwear lines at scale.

On the retail front, Comet is reportedly on track to reach 10 stores this month, with a longer-term target of expanding to a network of 20 outlets by the end of FY27. The push reflects a clear strategy: build a stronger offline footprint while simultaneously developing a broader omnichannel presence across Indian markets.

The funding round positions Comet to compete more aggressively in India’s footwear space, where homegrown brands are increasingly investing in both physical retail and product innovation to differentiate themselves. With backing from marquee investors and a concrete expansion timeline, the brand appears to be moving from early growth into a more scaled, infrastructure-heavy phase — one focused as much on manufacturing capability as on storefront visibility.
