Interbrand has partnered with JSW Greentech to shape the brand strategy, positioning, and identity for Ampstar – JSW Group’s new electric commercial vehicle brand and its formal entry into sustainable mobility. Ampstar will focus on next-generation electric buses and trucks engineered for Indian operating conditions, backed by an integrated ecosystem spanning technology, localisation, manufacturing, and customer solutions.
All vehicles will be designed, developed, and built in India, with the brand positioned around the country’s “Make in India” and “Viksit Bharat” ambitions.
For Interbrand, the challenge was building an identity that breaks away from conventional commercial vehicle category norms, making the shift to electric mobility feel practical and confident for businesses rather than daunting. The strategy also had to account for a deeper shift underway in the category – electrification isn’t just a powertrain change, but a shift in how fleet operators buy, run, service, and integrate vehicles into daily operations.
Drawing on conversations with drivers, owner-drivers, and fleet owners, Interbrand positioned Ampstar as “An all-in partner for the bold” – extending its role beyond manufacturer to ecosystem partner, aligned with JSW’s broader sustainability push. The name itself echoes the idea of “amping up performance for businesses, and the country.”
The visual identity blends a futuristic, tech-forward design language with an approachable feel, meant to signal momentum and shared growth.
Ashish Mishra, CEO of Interbrand India & South Asia, said the goal was to make this transition tangible — combining JSW’s ambition and technical strength with a clear understanding of what customers need to move forward confidently.
