Sparkonomy launches Open Creator Graph to give creators a say in AI use

Sparkonomy has launched the Open Creator Graph, a public identity and consent record that lets creators state how AI systems can use their name, image, likeness, voice and other identity attributes. Founded by three former Google executives, the platform pairs creator identity verification with AI consent preferences. Creators can claim records via an existing Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or X account.

Consent comes in three levels: ‘Allowed’, ‘Conditional’ and ‘Prohibited’. ‘Conditional’ lets AI systems represent creators as they are, but requires permission for uses such as deepfakes or voice cloning. The platform has one million creator records available to claim, free to set up with no minimum follower count. Records are published in human-readable and machine-readable formats, including JSON-LD and XML, so AI systems can read them. Creators also receive signed consent certificates, logged in a tamper-evident, timestamped public record.

The launch follows Sparkonomy’s AMISS study, which tested how ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Muse and Qwen described 10,000 creators through 50,000 queries in September 2026. Only one creator was described accurately by all five systems, while 67% received no accurate description from any.

Co-founder Guneet Singh said AI works at machine scale while consent remains manual and slow, and the graph aims to close that gap for every creator, not just famous ones. Co-founder Megha Thareja Tyagi said creators should decide before AI decides for them, pointing to India’s exploration of a royalty model for creators when AI is commercialised on their work. Talent agencies can submit rosters, and AI companies can access technical documentation.
