BBDO Group India has elevated Josy Paul, previously Chairman of BBDO India, to Chairman and Group Chief Creative Officer. In the new role, he will oversee the creative vision across the group, which brings together three agencies: BBDO India, Ulka and Mudra. The group is part of Omnicom Advertising.
Paul is among India’s most awarded and influential creative leaders, known for work that drives real cultural change. He co-founded BBDO India in 2008 with the philosophy of “Create acts, not ads.” Under his leadership, the agency produced campaigns such as Ariel’s ‘Share The Load’, Whisper’s ‘Touch The Pickle’, Gillette’s ‘Women Against Lazy Stubble’ and Mirinda’s ‘Release The Pressure’, which sparked global conversations on equality, inclusion and mental health. His work has won over 25 Cannes Lions, including a Grand Prix and multiple Golds, while ‘Share The Load’ was ranked the World’s Most Effective Campaign by WARC two years running.
Announcing the move, Jitender Dabas, CEO of BBDO Group India, called Paul an institution and one of the tallest creative leaders he has worked with. He praised his infectious enthusiasm for people, ideas and possibilities, adding that there is no better partner to shape the group’s creative ambition and culture. Paul said he still feels like a beginner, describing the role as an honour and a beautiful responsibility, and the aim as creating a bigger room for creativity.
The elevation follows Dabas’s appointment as CEO in February, after the Omnicom and IPG merger. The group’s clients include Amul, Tata Motors, McDonald’s, Mars, Meta, P&G, ICICI, Royal Enfield, Uber and LIC.
