Google Announces $32 Billion Acquisition of Wiz

Google LLC has signed a definitive agreement to acquire New York-based cloud security firm Wiz, Inc. for $32 billion in cash, pending regulatory approvals. Wiz will join Google Cloud upon completion of the deal.

The acquisition aims to strengthen Google Cloud’s position in cloud security and multicloud solutions in the AI era. Wiz offers a user-friendly security platform compatible with major cloud environments including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, stated: “Together, Google Cloud and Wiz will turbocharge improved cloud security and the ability to use multiple clouds.” He emphasized Google’s longstanding security focus and how businesses now seek stronger security solutions and greater choice in cloud providers.

Wiz’s platform serves organizations from startups to government agencies. The acquisition is expected to enhance security automation, reduce security control management costs, and improve protection against AI-driven threats.

Both companies have committed to maintaining Wiz’s products across all major cloud platforms and through partner security solutions in the Google Cloud Marketplace, ensuring continued support for existing customers regardless of their cloud environment.
