Burson has been appointed as the agency of record for Ahmedabad’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Gujarat Sports Infrastructure Development Company (GSID) selected Burson to lead strategic consulting for the development of the bid’s brand, competitive narrative, and media relations campaign.
The appointment underscores Ahmedabad’s ambition to host the 2036 Games, following India’s formal submission of a Letter of Intent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in October 2023. The city is positioning itself as a frontrunner, with plans for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Sports Enclave in Motera, which will feature six new stadiums and the existing Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium .
Burson’s role will involve crafting a compelling narrative that highlights Ahmedabad’s readiness and vision for the Games. The agency will also drive media relations efforts to build global awareness and support for the bid.
Dolly Tayal, Managing Director of Burson Genesis India, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to leveraging its expertise in sports communications to support India’s Olympic aspirations. The collaboration aims to build momentum and garner support for the bid both domestically and internationally.
As the bid progresses, Burson’s strategic guidance will be pivotal in shaping the narrative and ensuring that Ahmedabad’s vision for the 2036 Games resonates with stakeholders worldwide.
