Coca-Cola’s Limca Hits ₹2,800 Cr in Non-Cola Push

Coca-Cola India’s iconic lemon-lime beverage, Limca, has reached a significant commercial milestone, crossing the ₹2,800 crore revenue mark in 2024, according to a report by PTI. A staple in India’s soft drink landscape for over five decades, Limca is now among the fastest-growing brands in Coca-Cola’s portfolio, signaling a strong resurgence driven by rural expansion, modern trade penetration, and a strategic move into the hydration category.

Regional Growth Driving Momentum

Coca-Cola India reports robust double-digit growth for Limca in northern heartland states such as Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana. The brand is gaining market share across both traditional kirana outlets and modern retail formats, demonstrating its growing appeal among diverse consumer segments.

A Legacy Reinvented

Originally launched in 1971 and acquired by Coca-Cola in 1993 as part of the historic Parle deal—which included Thums Up, Maaza, and Gold Spot—Limca has long held nostalgic value for Indian consumers. However, 2024 marks a transformational year, signifying not only a revenue achievement but also a renewed relevance in a competitive and evolving market.

Strategic Shift Fuels Growth

Vinay Nair, Vice President – Franchise Operations, Developing Markets, Coca-Cola India & Southwest Asia, attributed Limca’s resurgence to a focused strategy.

“Innovating to match evolving consumer needs, expanding distribution beyond metros, and purpose-driven marketing have been key to Limca’s modern-day resurgence,” said Nair.

Expanding into Hydration

As part of its reinvention, Limca has entered the hydration segment with the launch of Limca GlucoCharge, a glucose and electrolyte-based beverage targeting active and outdoor consumers. The product, endorsed by Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, combines functional hydration with Limca’s brand legacy—positioning it as a performance partner for today’s lifestyle needs.

A Growing Powerhouse

With this performance, Limca joins the ranks of Coca-Cola’s top-performing Indian brands like Thums Up, Maaza, and Sprite. Thums Up, already India’s first billion-dollar cola, is reportedly approaching the $2 billion revenue mark, highlighting the scale and potential of Coca-Cola’s India business.

Building a Future-Ready Portfolio

Coca-Cola India’s product range—which includes Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Limca, Maaza, Minute Maid, and Honest Tea—is being actively reshaped to resonate with both urban Gen Z consumers and the rising rural middle class. The strategic expansion beyond colas indicates a clear shift toward a diversified, future-ready beverage portfolio.
