Gen Z Drives Snapchat’s Advertiser Growth

Snapchat has reported significant growth in its advertising business in India, driven by increasing brand interest in Gen Z consumers and the platform’s immersive advertising formats.

According to the company, the number of advertisers on Snapchat in India has grown tenfold over the past two years, while the number of brands advertising consistently throughout the year has tripled during the same period.

The platform, which now reaches over 250 million users in India, said demand is being fuelled by sectors such as fashion, beauty, retail, entertainment, sports, food delivery, and quick commerce. Snapchat attributes this growth to the rising adoption of augmented reality (AR) experiences, chat-based advertising formats, and AI-powered marketing solutions.

Pulkit Trivedi, Managing Director, India, Snap Inc., said the company has focused on building advertising solutions aligned with how Gen Z communicates and consumes content. He noted that brands are increasingly shifting toward engagement-led marketing, with Snapchat’s combination of AR, video, and high-attention chat formats delivering stronger consumer interactions.

Leading brands including Swiggy and Zomato have highlighted Snapchat’s ability to connect with younger audiences through interactive and contextual experiences. Industry experts also point to a broader shift in digital advertising, where marketers are moving beyond traditional formats to engage consumers in more personal and participative environments.

Ashwin Padmanabham, COO of WPP Media South Asia, noted that Gen Z is playing an increasingly influential role in household purchasing decisions, making platforms like Snapchat an important part of modern media strategies.

Alongside audience growth, Snapchat continues to invest in measurement, attribution, optimization tools, Sponsored Snaps, and AR Lens formats, helping brands improve campaign effectiveness and drive stronger business outcomes in the Indian market.
