JioHotstar, India’s largest streaming platform, has entered the Middle East and North Africa, joining the UK, Canada and Singapore in its expanding global lineup. Through a partnership with STARZPLAY, it will operate as a dedicated destination within the STARZPLAY app and website, bringing one of the world’s most important South Asian markets into its fold.
Audiences get new JioHotstar Originals alongside their India release, with audio tracks in up to 10 languages. The slate includes JioStar TV favourites, blockbuster films and major reality franchises, among them the upcoming season of Koffee with Karan and the ongoing Bigg Boss across six languages. Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bangla and Malayalam lead the offering, with a substantial Malayalam catalogue for the region’s Malayali viewers.
Two plans are available. PLUS, at AED 34.99 a month, unlocks the multilingual library. MAX, at AED 49.99, adds STARZPLAY’s sports portfolio, including cricket, so the whole household can enjoy entertainment and live sport in one subscription. Amit Malhotra of JioStar called MENA a crucial next market given its large South Asian diaspora, while STARZPLAY CEO Maaz Sheikh said the deal extends the platform’s cricket-led bond with South Asian audiences into everyday entertainment.
To mark the arrival, JioHotstar’s Big Bang visual lit up the Burj Khalifa alongside STARZPLAY branding, visible across Dubai’s skyline. The brand continues to explore AI-powered personalisation, conversational discovery, interactive entertainment and in-app commerce as it builds its presence across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
