JioStar is making the technology built through JioHotstar’s streaming operations available to media partners worldwide under a new platform called PRISM. Amit Malhotra, head of international business, JioStar, shared the move at CABSAT 2026, saying that while JioHotstar is going global, the company is also opening up its technology to partners under the PRISM brand.
PRISM brings together capabilities across content delivery, personalisation, payments, advertising, interactivity and content commerce. Partners can adopt the platform as a whole or plug individual capabilities into their existing infrastructure. According to Malhotra, it has been designed around the real challenges faced by broadcasters, pay TV operators, OTT platforms and sports organisations, drawing on JioHotstar’s experience as a streaming operator. He added that it could cut a product roadmap from three years to six months by letting partners use capabilities already proven on JioHotstar.
JioStar pointed to JioHotstar’s handling of live sport as proof of scale, noting that the platform recorded 72.5 million concurrent streams during the T20 World Cup 2026 final in March. Malhotra said live sport brings its own challenges, including sudden spikes in viewership, multiple feeds, advertising requirements and the need for uninterrupted viewing. For sports bodies, he highlighted the chance to build direct relationships with audiences and understand their viewing behaviour, noting that with every organisation already having an app, the real question is how to engage customers.
JioStar also cited Bigg Boss voting and 24×7 live feeds as interactive experiences that can be adapted for other partners. PRISM is expected to evolve alongside JioHotstar, with new technology from the streaming platform being made available to JioStar’s media partners.
