The Indian Digital Media Industry Foundation (IDMIF), a subsidiary of the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF), has appointed Kevin Vaz, CEO – Entertainment at JioStar, as its new President. The announcement follows a board meeting held on July 30, 2025.
Vaz succeeds K. Madhavan, under whose leadership IDMIF solidified its position as a leading voice for India’s digital media sector. With nearly 30 years of experience in media and entertainment, Vaz brings strategic depth and a deep understanding of the evolving digital landscape.
Commenting on his appointment, Vaz said, “I’m honoured to take on this role and build on the strong foundation laid by Mr. Madhavan. Digital media is a transformative pillar of our industry, and with the right policy framework and collaboration, we can foster innovation, fair competition, and sustainable growth.” He emphasized the importance of empowering creators and enhancing user experiences through inclusive, forward-looking initiatives.
IDMIF continues to play a key role in responsible content governance through the Digital Media Content Regulatory Council (DMCRC), established under the IT Rules, 2021. Chaired by Justice Mukul Mudgal (Retd.), the council includes industry leaders such as Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Nikkhil Advani, Deepak Dhar, and Tigmanshu Dhulia, alongside OCCP representatives like Anil Lale (JioHotstar) and Ritesh Khosla (SonyLIV).
Modelled on the BCCC, the DMCRC is registered with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and works to balance consumer protection with creative freedom-ensuring self-regulation remains at the core of digital content development in India.
