Available across 58 cities, the new range brings protein-rich options to McDonald’s favourites with support from CFTRI.
Swiggy and McDonald’s India (West & South) have teamed up to launch the new Protein Plus Range of burgers, available exclusively on the Swiggy app from July 24 to August 11, 2025. The range will be featured under the ‘High Protein’ section on the platform, catering to growing consumer interest in balanced, nutrient-rich fast food.
This launch spans 58 cities across Western and Southern India, including Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Vizag, Surat, and Mysore.
Part of McDonald’s Real Food Real Good initiative, the Protein Plus burgers were developed in collaboration with the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI). The innovation involves adding a specially formulated protein slice-containing 5g of plant-based protein from soya and peas-to existing burgers. Each slice adds only 34 kcal, with no artificial flavours or colours, and retains the original taste of McDonald’s popular items like the McSpicy Premium Veg, McVeggie, McSpicy Paneer, McSpicy Premium Chicken, McChicken, and Masala McEgg.
McDonald’s has also introduced Multi-Millet Buns, co-created with CFTRI. These buns include five types of nutrient-dense millets, offering essential vitamins, minerals, and dietary fibre. This millet option is available on select burgers, including the McAloo Tikki, McChicken, McVeggie, McSpicy Chicken, McCrispy Chicken, and Crispy Veggie Burger.
Speaking on the collaboration, Sidharth Bhakoo, Chief Business Officer, Swiggy Food Marketplace, said:
“We’re proud to be the exclusive platform for McDonald’s Protein Plus and millet bun burgers. As more Indians become conscious of their protein intake, these new offerings allow them to stay healthy without giving up their favourite flavours. This is just the beginning-we look forward to launching more nutritious options together in the future.”
Swiggy recently launched a dedicated ‘High Protein’ category to help users discover and enjoy protein-rich meals more easily in their daily diet.
