Netflix Expands Kids Universe with Interactive ‘Playground’ Gaming App

Netflix is doubling down on its kids and family segment with an expanded content slate and the launch of Netflix Playground, a new interactive gaming app designed for children aged eight and under.

Set to roll out globally from April 28, the app will be included within existing memberships-completely ad-free and without in-app purchases. With Playground, Netflix aims to move beyond passive viewing, allowing kids to actively engage with popular characters like Peppa Pig and Sesame Street in a safe, immersive environment.

Alongside gaming, Netflix is also strengthening its content pipeline with new and returning titles. The platform has announced a new preschool series, Young MacDonald, while renewing fan favourites like Trash Truck and The Creature Cases. Additional content from globally recognised franchises such as Dr. Seuss and CoComelon Lane is also part of the rollout.

The move reflects Netflix’s broader strategy to build a unified ecosystem for younger audiences-where entertainment, learning, and play converge seamlessly. By integrating interactive experiences with curated content, the platform is aiming to deepen engagement while offering parents a controlled, ad-free environment for their children.

As competition intensifies in the streaming space, especially in family content, Netflix’s push into interactive formats signals a shift toward more holistic digital experiences-turning storytelling into participation and positioning the platform as more than just a place to watch.
