Network18’s GenNext Era Begins: Young Leaders Take the Front Seat

Network18 is undergoing a significant leadership transition as it strengthens its next-generation management team to steer the company’s future across broadcast and digital ecosystems. The reshuffle follows the exit of Avinash Kaul, who moves on after a 12-year tenure leading broadcast and publishing operations.

Managing Director Rahul Joshi has expanded the responsibilities of a younger leadership cohort, signalling a strategic shift toward agility, innovation, and platform-agnostic growth. Leaders such as Smriti Mehra, S. Shivakumar, and Mitul Sangani will now work closely with Joshi, taking on larger roles across digital, social, connected TV (CTV), and regional businesses.

The restructuring aligns teams more closely with evolving business priorities. Key reporting changes aim to enhance collaboration across content, revenue, and marketing functions, while also sharpening focus on regional expansion-particularly in Tier-II and Tier-III markets. The consolidation of branded content operations between Moneycontrol and News18 Studio further reflects a push toward integrated storytelling and monetisation.

Additionally, expanded roles in international business, data analytics, and technology underscore Network18’s intent to build a future-ready organisation. Greater emphasis is being placed on leveraging audience insights to drive content strategy, product innovation, and sustainable growth.

Joshi described the emerging leadership as “young and restless,” highlighting their ability to step up during challenging times and deliver strong performance. As the company navigates an increasingly competitive and AI-driven media landscape, this transition marks a clear move toward a more dynamic, digitally focused, and collaborative operating model.
