OnePlus Brings Gen Z and Gen Evergreen Together in #MakeItSpecial Diwali Film

OnePlus India has launched the third edition of its festive campaign, #MakeItSpecial, for Diwali 2026. The idea centres on togetherness across generations, exploring how younger Indians and older family members can create meaningful festive moments together. After spotlighting pets in 2024 and a greener future in 2025, this year’s edition turns its focus to older generations and the meeting point of Gen Z’s digital-first lifestyle with cherished family traditions.

Ishita Grover, Director, Marketing at OnePlus India, said festivities have no age limit, and that generations often celebrate apart. The campaign, she explained, brings them together not by asking one to become the other, but by helping each discover how the other celebrates.

Conceptualised in-house, the campaign features Indian Women’s Cricket Team Vice Captain Smriti Mandhana, creators Vishnu Kaushal and Govind Kaushal, and choreographer Nicole Concessao. The film follows an elderly couple whose traditional Diwali turns quiet once guests leave. A video call from their grandchildren introduces a Gen Z-style celebration, and the grandparents wonder if they are “too old” for it. Mandhana then steps in with her OnePlus 15 and a Diwali dance challenge. Music on the OnePlus Pad 4, diyas, sweets and a modern rangoli blend both worlds, while the OnePlus N6, Nord 6, Nord CE6 and Nord Buds appear as festive gifts.

Beyond the film, OnePlus has partnered with Marzi, a community for people aged 50 and above, to run a month-long series of shared experiences. Activities include pickleball, nostalgic games, coffee raves and pizza making, with registrations opening on a dedicated microsite after October 10. The film will stream on YouTube, Instagram and X.
