PUMA and Superkicks Just Bottled an Indian Summer Into a Sneaker

PUMA India and premium streetwear retailer Superkicks have dropped the Palermo Jamun – a limited-edition sneaker pack inspired by the jamun fruit, and everything it quietly represents: purple-stained fingertips, a grandmother’s courtyard, and summers that had nowhere to be and no reason to hurry.

The drop arrives in two colourways. The first is a deep, saturated purple with a striking green PUMA formstrip – bold, expressive, and unapologetic. The second starts on a clean white base, designed to stain and evolve with wear, mirroring exactly what jamun does to everything it touches. Clothes, fingers, memories. Both colourways tell a story that every Indian raised on summer holidays instantly recognises.

To launch it, PUMA and Superkicks didn’t just host an event – they built an entire world. The Summer at Nani’s sundowner recreated an Indian grandmother’s courtyard with mismatched cushion covers, woven dhurries, rattan furniture, DIY tie-dye using natural jamun dye, traditional hair champi stations, and jamun stomping sessions. Actor Shanaya Kapoor joined creators, tastemakers, and sneaker enthusiasts. It wasn’t a product launch. It was a set designed to make you miss somewhere you didn’t know you’d forgotten.

The Palermo has steadily become PUMA India’s most culturally ambitious silhouette – previously collaborating with mithai brand Pistabarfi and a Tamil Nadu-based NGO rooted in jugaad craft traditions. Each iteration roots a 1980s UK terrace sneaker deeper into India’s lived, hyperlocal experience.

Palermo Jamun is available across select PUMA stores, the PUMA website and app, and Superkicks outlets – while the season lasts.
