Rapido has officially launched Ownly, its standalone food delivery platform, in Bengaluru, introducing a new approach to food delivery pricing. The launch follows the company’s earlier announcement about entering the food delivery space with a restaurant-focused model designed to reduce high platform commissions.
Ownly operates on a zero-commission structure, meaning restaurants are not charged platform fees for listing or selling through the app. Instead, customers pay a delivery fee that covers logistics and delivery operations. According to Rapido, this structure aims to minimise the price mark-ups and additional costs often associated with traditional food delivery platforms.
The model also requires price parity between online and offline menus, ensuring that restaurants cannot charge higher prices for orders placed through the app. In addition, the platform discourages separate packaging mark-ups, further promoting transparency for consumers.
Rapido has partnered with the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) to help shape the platform’s restaurant-first approach. The association represents more than 50,000 restaurants across the country and has been involved in supporting initiatives that create more sustainable economics for restaurant partners.
To promote the launch, Rapido has rolled out a digital video campaign built around a courtroom setting. The film uses satire to highlight common consumer concerns such as platform fees, inflated menu prices and discount-driven pricing models. Through this narrative, the campaign positions Ownly as a more transparent and fair alternative in the food delivery ecosystem.
The Bengaluru launch follows a pilot phase conducted in neighbourhoods such as Koramangala, HSR Layout and BTM Layout, where the company tested the platform with selected restaurant partners. Rapido said it spent the past year studying consumer behaviour and refining the service before expanding it citywide.
With Ownly, Rapido aims to build a balanced ecosystem that benefits both restaurants and customers while expanding its presence in India’s growing food delivery market.
