The Indian Express launches redesigned app for iOS and Android

Faster, smarter, and deeply personalised, the revamped app delivers a premium news experience for today’s mobile-first reader.

The Indian Express has unveiled its newly redesigned app for iOS and Android, offering a faster, cleaner, and more personalised experience. Built for the mobile-first generation and shaped by user feedback, the new app streamlines navigation, balances depth with speed, and puts subscribers at the center.

A key highlight is the ‘Curated For You’ widget-a machine learning-powered recommendation engine that serves stories tailored to each user’s interests and location. The app also introduces Express Shorts, a native short-format news feature for quick updates, and a new save-and-organise function ideal for readers like UPSC aspirants.

The interface has been fully refreshed with a clutter-free UI/UX and seamless adaptation for larger screens including tablets and foldables. The redefined search function delivers broader, more accurate results across stories, authors, and multimedia.

New engagement tools include native crosswords and puzzles, while Picture-in-Picture (PiP) support enables continuous video playback during navigation. Podcasts now play in the background, even after the app is closed.

Customisation is central: users can now reorder sections, select preferred topics, and track personal usage stats via the new Profile tab. A dedicated ‘Latest’ tab offers real-time updates, ensuring readers never miss breaking news.

With direct in-app subscription options on iOS and Android, the app simplifies payments and renewals.

“The all-new Indian Express app is your key to staying ahead,” said Sanjay Sindhwani, CEO, Indian Express Digital.

The iOS version launched in May; Android rollout began July 21.
