Quick-commerce giant Zepto has unveiled Zepto Pharmacy, an on-demand medicine delivery service that promises to deliver both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications within just 10 minutes. This pilot service is currently live in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Hyderabad.
The platform, operating within the main Zepto app, supports prescription-based purchases through a verification system, ensuring legal compliance. For users without prescriptions, the app offers a tele-consultation feature, facilitating access to prescription services and prescription-required medications.
Zepto’s entry into the pharmacy space reflects a broader quick-commerce trend, with competitors like Swiggy Instamart (partnered with PharmEasy), Flipkart Health Plus, and Apollo 24/7 all expanding into ultra-fast medicine delivery. According to Zepto, this offering was born out of operational insights showing unmet customer needs more than 100 daily “null searches” for medicines in select stores triggered this strategic expansion.
