Havas CEO Yannick Bolloré denies talks with WPP

Havas CEO Yannick Bolloré has dismissed speculation that the French advertising group is engaged in discussions with WPP, following a series of global media reports suggesting a potential deal between the two companies.

In a memo addressed to employees, Bolloré clarified the situation, stating, “Given the recent press coverage. and the questions we’ve received from colleagues and clients, we want to clarify that we are not in discussions with WPP,” according to Reuters. His statement aims to quell rumours that Havas may be exploring an investment or deeper partnership with the British agency holding group.

The denial comes amid heightened consolidation activity in the global advertising industry. Notably, Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG is in its final stages- a move that is positioned to make Omnicom the world’s largest agency holding company by revenue. The timing of this major industry shift has intensified scrutiny around other possible mergers or investments, making the Havas–WPP rumour particularly sensitive.

Bolloré’s clarification reaffirms that no such negotiations are underway, putting an end to speculation that the two firms were exploring a tie-up.
