Uber Partners with ONDC to Enter B2B Logistics with ‘Uber Direct’

Uber India has officially entered the business-to-business (B2B) logistics space by launching Uber Direct in partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), marking a major expansion beyond its traditional ride-hailing and consumer delivery services. The move leverages India’s government-backed digital commerce infrastructure to offer scalable last-mile logistics solutions for businesses.

The service went live initially in Bengaluru, where Uber Direct is fulfilling grocery deliveries for partners including quick-commerce platform Zepto and retail chain KPN Farm Fresh. Unlike Uber Courier, which is booked directly by individual customers through the Uber app, Uber Direct functions as a plug-and-play logistics engine that operates quietly in the background. Businesses can place orders on their own apps or websites, and Uber’s extensive bike fleet handles the delivery without the customer interacting with Uber until the delivery partner arrives.

Uber plans to expand the service to additional B2B categories in the coming weeks and into 2026. Food delivery partnerships with brands such as KFCBurger KingTaco Bell and India-native Rebel Foods are expected to go live soon, with broader growth into e-commerce and other logistics segments on the horizon.

The strategic alliance with ONDC aims to provide smaller merchants and larger enterprises alike with access to Uber’s delivery capabilities without owning their own fleet, helping streamline their supply chains and drive efficiency. Industry observers note that this integration also underscores Uber’s intent to diversify its India footprint by tapping into the burgeoning digital commerce ecosystem and offering interoperable logistics solutions across platforms.

The launch of Uber Direct alongside initiatives such as metro ticketing on the Uber app shows how the company is broadening its use of ONDC to deliver connected mobility and commerce services – positioning Uber as a comprehensive platform for everyday business needs.
