NPCI BHIM Services Limited has appointed Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the brand ambassador for the BHIM Payments App, marking a strategic move to strengthen user trust and accelerate the platform’s next phase of growth.
The partnership brings together two entities known for reliability, simplicity and consistency. While BHIM has played a key role in enabling India’s digital payments ecosystem, Dhoni’s reputation for calm leadership and dependability reinforces the brand’s positioning among a wide and diverse user base.
The association is rooted in shared values. From Dhoni’s journey as a small-town cricketer to becoming a global icon, to BHIM’s evolution into a widely used payments platform, both represent stories of strong foundations and scalable impact. The collaboration aims to deepen consumer confidence and expand adoption across urban as well as semi-urban and rural markets.
Lalitha Nataraj, MD & CEO of NPCI BHIM Services Limited, said the next phase of growth in digital payments is about building preference and trust. She added that Dhoni’s credibility aligns with BHIM’s mission to become the preferred payments app for Indian households.
Dhoni highlighted the importance of simplicity in digital transactions, noting that BHIM’s focus on accessibility and ease of use makes it relevant for users across the country. He emphasised the need for platforms that inspire confidence as India continues to move towards greater digital adoption.
Following its repositioning as ‘Bharat Ka Apna Payments App’, BHIM has expanded its reach across Tier 1, 2 and 3 markets. With support for over 15 regional languages and optimisation for low-connectivity environments, the platform continues to drive financial inclusion and everyday usability at scale.
