DOMS Industries has released a festive film that examines how family expectations shape the dreams parents hold for their children. It uses the festive setting to look at the balance between parental guidance and a child’s freedom to choose her own path.
The story follows Tara, a young girl at a family gathering where relatives present her with DOMS gifts, each representing a different future they imagine for her, from businesswoman to artist to architect. The film turns when Tara asks her brother what he wants her to become. Instead of suggesting a career, he gives her a gift that leaves the choice to her, and Tara shares her own dream of travelling the world. It closes with the message, ‘Iss tyohaar, unka kal mat chuniye. Unhein har kal ke liye tayyaar kijiye.’
Santosh Raveshia, managing director, DOMS Industries, says the festive gifting range is meant to spark imagination and inspire children to dream big, adding that every ambition needs preparation. Saumitra Prasad, chief marketing officer, says every gift can nurture creativity and help children turn their dreams into reality.
Anupama Ramaswamy, managing director and chief creative officer, Havas Creative India, says adults often dream of a future for their children and forget they have dreams of their own. The greatest gift, she adds, is the freedom to imagine one’s own future.
