Shemaroo Strengthens Regional Play with OHO Gujarati Library Acquisition

Shemaroo Entertainment has acquired the complete content library of OHO Gujarati for its streaming platform ShemarooMe, marking a significant move to deepen its presence in the regional OTT space.

The acquisition brings over 30 original Gujarati web series and content featuring more than 450 actors onto ShemarooMe. This addition strengthens the platform’s existing catalogue of regional content, which includes both original productions and curated titles tailored for Gujarati audiences.

The move reflects a broader consolidation trend in the regional OTT ecosystem, where platforms are increasingly investing in strong local storytelling to build differentiated content libraries. By integrating OHO Gujarati’s catalogue, Shemaroo aims to enhance accessibility to high-quality Gujarati narratives for audiences both in India and globally.

As part of the rollout, Vitthal Teedi, starring Pratik Gandhi, will be among the first titles to stream on ShemarooMe starting April 10. Set in 1980s Saurashtra, the series explores the life of a gambler navigating personal and social conflicts, adding a culturally rich story to the platform’s offerings.

This acquisition aligns with Shemaroo’s digital-first strategy, focused on scaling regional content and building a robust, language-driven entertainment ecosystem. By doubling down on Gujarati content, the company is positioning ShemarooMe as a go-to destination for regional storytelling in an increasingly competitive OTT market.
