In a move that blends aviation with cricket fandom, Malaysia Airlines has unveiled a striking new aircraft livery in collaboration with Mumbai Indians-turning a long-haul jet into a flying celebration of one of cricket’s most iconic teams.
The design, showcased on an Airbus A330-300, fuses Mumbai Indians’ signature blue-and-gold palette with the airline’s branding. It prominently features the team’s emblem, chakra motif, and fan-inspired graphics-transforming the aircraft into a bold cultural statement rather than just a mode of transport.
This launch builds on the airline’s role as the team’s Official Global Airline Partner, a partnership announced earlier this year. As part of the deal, Malaysia Airlines’ branding also appears on the team’s jersey, extending visibility from stadiums to the skies.
To amplify the moment, both brands released a digital film capturing Mumbai’s vibrant culture and its deep-rooted passion for cricket-positioning the collaboration as more than a sponsorship, but a shared narrative of identity and fandom.
Executives from Malaysia Aviation Group emphasized India as a strategic growth market, noting that the partnership goes beyond traditional branding to create culturally relevant experiences. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians highlighted the collaboration as a way to take their brand beyond the pitch and connect with fans globally.
The aircraft is set to operate across India and Asia, reinforcing Malaysia Airlines’ regional ambitions while quite literally carrying the spirit of Mumbai across borders.
