Shreyas Iyer has been named brand ambassador for the F1 sim racing program in India by Mumbai Falcons Racing, marking a significant step in the growth of virtual motorsports in the country.
The initiative centres around the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026, a national-level championship aimed at discovering and nurturing emerging racing talent. Backed by official rights linked to Formula 1, the competition will be played on F1 25, offering participants a realistic racing experience with official circuits and formats.
Iyer’s association reflects the growing intersection of traditional sports and esports. Known for his consistency and leadership on the field, he also connects strongly with India’s younger, digital-first audience-making him a natural fit for the role.
Registrations for the tournament open on April 30 through the Mumbai Falcons app. Players will be able to compete across multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
With this move, Mumbai Falcons aims to build a structured pathway for Indian gamers to enter the global sim racing ecosystem, expanding the country’s presence in competitive motorsports beyond physical tracks.
