“Ab Bas…” – Times Now Navbharat Digital Takes a Stand Against Dowry Harassment

For decades, dowry harassment has been wrongly dismissed as a problem limited to economically weaker or socially conservative households. The uncomfortable truth, however, is far more widespread. From middle-class homes to affluent urban families, from educated professionals to financially independent women – abuse linked to dowry continues to thrive behind closed doors, concealed beneath the facade of respectability.

Recent cases, including those of Twisha Sharma and Deepika Nagar, have forced society to ask a difficult question: despite women achieving financial independence and breaking professional barriers, why does marriage remain a space of pressure, harassment, and criminality for so many?

In response, Times Now Navbharat Digital has launched “Ab Bas…” – a purposeful campaign addressing the rising tide of dowry-related harassment, abuse, and deaths across India. The initiative goes beyond reporting individual incidents. It challenges the deeply ingrained cultural conditioning that continues to define a woman’s worth through silence, sacrifice, and adjustment – cutting across class and geography.

The campaign will feature insights from sociologists, psychologists, and legal experts, alongside articles on women’s rights, mental health, marital well-being, and legal awareness. Institutional responses from authorities and the judiciary will also be examined to spotlight accountability gaps.

Hosted across www.timesnownavbharat.com and its social media platforms, “Ab Bas…” aims to carry this conversation beyond urban circles and into everyday households – reframing dowry not as someone else’s problem, but as a collective social responsibility that demands urgent, collective action.
