Ahead of World Environment Day on June 5, CNN-News18 has unveiled #CNNNews18OneLess, a nationwide campaign designed to inspire individuals to make small but meaningful lifestyle changes that can collectively contribute to a healthier planet.
Built around the idea that environmental sustainability begins with everyday choices, the campaign encourages people to adopt a simple “One Less” pledge. Whether it’s one less unnecessary delivery order, one less elevator ride, one less idle vehicle engine, or one less printed bill, the initiative highlights how small actions can create a significant environmental impact when embraced by millions.
As part of the campaign, CNN-News18 will air a series of special reports and discussions focused on practical sustainability solutions. Key segments include India’s Cooling Crisis, which examines the growing pressure on the country’s power infrastructure due to rising air-conditioner usage, and One Less Degree, which explores how minor temperature adjustments can reduce energy consumption. Additional coverage will focus on reducing plastic waste, promoting responsible appliance usage, and encouraging alternatives to short-distance car travel.
The campaign will also see CNN-News18 anchors engaging viewers across television and digital platforms, encouraging them to share their personal “One Less” commitments and become part of a larger movement for environmental responsibility.
Rahul Shivshankar, Editorial Affairs Director at CNN-News18, said the initiative aims to demonstrate how collective action can help address climate challenges. Smriti Mehra, CEO of English and Business News at Network18, added that the campaign reflects the network’s commitment to using its platform to drive awareness and inspire positive action.
Through #CNNNews18OneLess, CNN-News18 seeks to move the conversation beyond awareness and empower audiences to make sustainability a part of their everyday lives.
