Star Sports has been confirmed as the broadcast partner for the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), set to run from July 17 to August 8, 2026, bringing the T20 tournament to Indian audiences.
Organised by Sri Lanka Cricket, with commercial rights held by Innovative Production Group FZ (IPG), this season will feature 62 Sri Lankan players alongside 32 overseas cricketers. The edition drew record interest, with more than 650 overseas player registrations from 21 countries.
Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, founder and CEO of IPG Group, said the league continues to strengthen its position in global cricket, with this season’s registration numbers reflecting its growing appeal among players and fans worldwide. He added that the ambition extends beyond hosting a successful tournament, aiming to build a platform supporting Sri Lankan cricket’s growth while offering emerging talent the chance to compete alongside top international players.
The confirmed line-up includes Moeen Ali, Jimmy Neesham, Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka, with India’s Vijay Shankar set to make his LPL debut.
Tournament director Samantha Dodanwela called Season 6 a milestone moment, highlighting the diversity and quality of participating players as proof of the league’s growing strength. She noted that with world-class broadcast coverage and some of cricket’s biggest names on the field, organisers are looking forward to delivering another high-quality season for fans.
With Star Sports on board, LPL 2026 will reach Indian viewers throughout its run, extending the tournament’s visibility across one of cricket’s largest fan markets.
