Zee Music Company is deepening its footprint in South India with a fresh wave of music rights acquisitions spanning Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films, alongside regional music-led IPs. The expansion gathered pace after the label acquired rights to the Malayalam film Balan: The Boy, directed by Chidambaram with music by Sushin Shyam.
Its latest addition is I’m Game, a Malayalam film starring Dulquer Salmaan, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Mysskin, Kathir, Antony Varghese and Parth Tiwari, directed by Nahas Hidayath with music by Jakes Bejoy.
On the Telugu front, the label has picked up rights to several upcoming titles, including Vikramarka, Pallaburusu, Happy Journey, Mega 158 (starring Chiranjeevi, scored by Thaman S), NBK 111 (starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Kajal Aggarwal, Nayanthara and Sanjay Dutt, also by Thaman S), Kanaka Durga, and VenkyAnil5, directed by Anil Ravipudi with music by G.V. Prakash Kumar. Its Malayalam slate further includes Credit Score, while Kannada additions cover Birbal: Case 2, Vibhrama and Mangala Gowri. In Tamil, the company has secured Slumdog: 33 Temple Road, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Tabu, composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar. It has also acquired multi-language rights for Toxic, featuring Yash, across Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
Beyond film music, Zee Music Company has partnered with ZEE5 Malayalam’s hip-hop reality show Kerala Underground, releasing its promotional anthem featuring Dabzee, The Imbachi, MC Couper and Parimal Shais.
Sujal Parekh, Chief Business Officer, Zee Music Company, said the I’m Game collaboration with Wayfarer Films strengthens the label’s Malayalam presence as part of its Pan-India growth strategy. The acquired catalogue will roll out across 2026 and 2027.
