Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the 2026 variant of the Hilux, backed by a new ad film. This marks the ninth global iteration of Toyota’s Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) and only the second to be introduced in India.
The launch film, titled ‘That’s Wild,’ is built around the idea of “adventure meeting innovation.” It opens with a man getting into the Hilux after receiving a text reading “See you in 30.” What follows is a rugged off-roading sequence that doubles as a showcase for the car’s features and capabilities. He eventually reaches his destination, only to find a woman – also driving a Hilux – has beaten him there and teases him for taking “long enough.” Unfazed, he responds “It’s not over yet,” and the two set off on one final side-by-side race.
While largely predictable in its build-up, the film lands a neat twist at the end, revealing that the person he’d been racing against all along was the very person he was texting.
Speaking on the launch, Masakazu Yoshimura, Chairperson, MD & CEO, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company’s nearly three-decade India journey has been shaped by listening to customers and investing in trust, quality and reliability, with the new Hilux reinforcing that commitment through proven durability and dependability.
Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, added that the new Hilux is tougher, smarter and more expressive, blending bold design with strong performance to meet shifting mobility preferences in India, where customers increasingly seek vehicles suited to lifestyle, professional and adventure needs alike.
