Google has unveiled Pixel Tag, its first item-tracking device and a direct challenger to Apple’s AirTag. The product was launched at the company’s Made by Google 2026 event, alongside the new Pixel 11 smartphone lineup.
Priced at $29, Pixel Tag runs on Google’s Find Hub network, the same system Android devices use to locate lost phones and other gadgets. Once added to Find Hub, users can track the tag through their Android device, and it can also be located or made to ring via a Pixel Watch.
Design-wise, Pixel Tag departs from AirTag’s round shape, opting instead for a slimmer, elongated form factor. It measures 1.1 inches in width, 1.8 inches in height and 0.2 inches in depth, weighing 0.4 ounces with its battery – compared with AirTag’s 1.26-inch width, 0.31-inch height and 0.39-ounce weight.
Both devices share an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. Pixel Tag supports Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband for precision finding, though it skips NFC. A built-in speaker helps users locate it when it’s nearby.
The tag runs on a replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery, which Google says lasts roughly a year before needing a swap.
Built for everyday items like keys and bags, Pixel Tag will go on sale from November 11, 2026, priced at $29 for a single unit or $99 for a four-pack.
