The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has said several food businesses, including Dabur India, Ferns N Petals and Lotte India, have taken corrective measures following regulatory notices over labelling, product classification and advertising claims, according to a report by the Economic Times.
Dabur India was flagged for listing an Ayurvedic proprietary medicinal oil as an edible oil; it has since directed e-commerce platforms and its website to list the product under the correct Ayurvedic medicine category.
Lotte India Corporation was flagged over ‘100%’ claims on its products and has rectified the concerned labels, while Ferns N Petals was issued a notice over missing declarations and nutritional information on a chocolate product containing hydrogenated vegetable fat, including its Roasted Almond Chocolate, and has since corrected the labelling.
Eat Better Ventures removed comparative and vegan claims after objections to its ‘No Added Sugar’ messaging and comparisons involving regular ladoos and chocolates. FSSAI also flagged Om Sai Healthcare’s Vedaflexa Capsules over therapeutic claims, prompting the company to revise its marketing material and withdraw earlier promotional content.
FSSAI said the corrective steps reflect its continued action against food businesses over safety and advertising violations.
