Lay’s has launched “Lay’s Kholo, Ranbir Se Milo,” a six-week consumer contest that gives buyers of eligible ₹20 packs a shot at prizes ranging from gadgets to a face-to-face meeting with brand ambassador Ranbir Kapoor.
The mechanic is built around neighbourhood retail: consumers buy an eligible pack from participating stores, then scan a QR code or use a digital link to enter Lay’s WhatsApp journey, where they upload and verify their pack to participate.
Rewards scale with verified packs – three packs unlock a chance at a gaming console, five at a premium smartphone, 10 at an international holiday, and 20 at the marquee prize: a meet-and-greet with Kapoor himself. The contest carries a total prize value of ₹2 crore, factoring in the indicative worth of the celebrity meet-up.
Aastha Bhasin, Marketing Director – Potato Chips Category, PepsiCo India, said the campaign is about turning the simple act of opening a pack into a memorable moment, combining taste, joy and reward to deepen the brand’s connection with fans.
Ranbir Kapoor said the initiative is fan-first at its core, calling it exciting that a ₹20 pack could bring him face-to-face with loyal consumers, and added he’s looking forward to sharing a pack of Lay’s with the eventual winners.
The campaign will roll out across retail, digital, creator and social media touchpoints, with participation firmly anchored in neighbourhood kirana stores – reinforcing Lay’s continued reliance on grassroots retail as the engine for mass engagement, even as the contest’s digital verification layer pulls consumers into a trackable, WhatsApp-led funnel.
