JioHotstar has launched an interactive Play Along feature for India Ke Top 1% – The Anil Kapoor Show, letting viewers join the quiz from home in real time and compete for rewards including smartphones and Smart TVs.
Produced by Banijay Asia and hosted by Anil Kapoor, the show premieres on Star Plus on September 19 at 8 PM. It brings together 100 contestants across 13 rounds, with questions built around logic, common sense, mental agility and observation rather than rote textbook knowledge.
Each contestant starts with Rs 1 lakh, and amounts forfeited by those who answer incorrectly roll into a collective prize pool that can climb up to Rs 1 crore. As the rounds progress, the contestant pool narrows, building toward a final question crafted to be answerable by only the top 1% of the country.
With Play Along on the JioHotstar app, viewers at home can attempt the same questions as contestants in real time, testing their own reasoning and observation skills alongside the show. The feature is also designed for group participation, letting families play together and challenge each other as the episode unfolds – turning passive viewing into an active, shared experience.
By layering a live, participatory format onto a traditional quiz show, JioHotstar is aiming to deepen audience engagement beyond the screen, giving viewers a direct stake in the show’s format rather than just watching contestants compete from the sidelines.
