Air India has rolled out the next phase of its brand platform, ‘There is an Air About India,’ timed to the Asian Games and fronted by young cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The digital film shifts the campaign’s focus from national ambition to the people behind it – families, coaches, support staff and communities who help athletes realise their potential.
Launched in 2025, the platform originally captured the confidence and momentum of a rising India. This edition takes a more personal turn, built around the soundtrack refrain “Together We Fly,” which frames success as a collective effort rather than an individual one. The film follows Sooryavanshi’s arc from a boy with a dream to a cricketer inspiring the country, interweaving moments from across Indian sport to reinforce the idea that support systems power national achievement. Produced with agency McCann, the film is set to an Indian fusion rap track blending contemporary and traditional sounds.
The campaign lands during a turbulent stretch for the airline. Tewolde Gebremariam took over as CEO and MD on August 5, telling employees the airline retains a strong brand and real potential, while invoking a “Make Air India Great Again” line and asking staff to back the next phase of its transformation.
That transformation continues under scrutiny. The airline is still facing fallout from the June 2025 Ahmedabad crash that killed 260 people, and in August, a Phuket-Delhi flight saw a sudden altitude drop. Air India later dismissed the pilot-in-command after he tested positive for a psychoactive substance.
