Adobe has officially completed its acquisition of Topaz Labs, an AI company known for video and image enhancement models. Topaz will continue as a standalone brand, while its capabilities are woven directly into the tools creative professionals and enterprises already use. Adobe framed the deal around its mission of empowering everyone to create, giving customers access to top AI models alongside its creative software in one place.
Topaz has won the trust of filmmakers, photographers and designers for technology that recovers detail, improves clarity and keeps video temporally consistent while feeling authentic. It earned a 2025 Emmy Award for video technology. Its tools are available in Adobe Firefly and Photoshop, helping users upscale and enhance visuals without losing the original’s natural look. Its proprietary Neurostream technology lets professionals run complex AI models on their own devices or via Topaz’s cloud option.
The deal targets the challenge of modernising content at scale. Studios with decades of archived film, broadcasters holding vaults of legacy game footage and marketing teams producing media for global audiences all face the same problem: valuable content that must be adapted for today’s high-resolution screens. Restoring archival footage, refining low-light shots, enhancing mobile clips and lifting AI-generated videos to professional quality will soon be possible across more workflows.
By integrating Topaz’s models into Creative Cloud, Adobe aims to cut tool-switching and free up time for refining work. The Topaz brand and standalone apps stay, and CEO Eric Yang joins Adobe’s Digital Video and Audio team, with support unchanged.
