Truecaller has partnered with LinkedIn to add professional information and verification signals to its Caller ID service. Users can now link their LinkedIn profiles so that their job title and workplace appear alongside their name and profile picture when they call.
New users can sign up with Login with LinkedIn, which pre-fills details such as name and profile picture. Both new and existing users can use Verified on LinkedIn to add their workplace and job title to their Truecaller profile. Once connected, people receiving a call will see the caller’s designation and company on the screen, and can tap through to the caller’s LinkedIn profile to learn more about their professional background.
The integration also carries over LinkedIn’s verification signals. If a caller’s workplace has been verified on LinkedIn, Truecaller will display an indicator with the company information.
Kunal Dua, chief product officer at Truecaller, said a phone number alone tells you almost nothing, and that the company’s role has been to add the context people need to decide whether to answer. He said the partnership gives the receiver a more trustworthy picture of who is calling, while helping callers be recognised for more than their number.
Oscar Rodriguez, VP of Trust Product at LinkedIn, said the aim is to let members take their verified credibility to more platforms without separate verification processes, bringing it to the moment the phone rings.
The feature is entirely optional. Users can choose whether to display their workplace and job title, and can disconnect LinkedIn at any time. It is available to Truecaller users on Android worldwide, with the iPhone version to follow.
