Meta Launches First Playbook to Help Micro Drama Platforms Scale

Meta has launched its first playbook for the micro drama category, outlining approaches to audience acquisition, engagement, monetisation and advertising. The Meta Solutions Playbook for Micro Dramas was unveiled at FICCI Frames in Mumbai and draws on category insights from Kuku TV and audience research from Ormax Media.

The playbook classifies 39% of micro drama viewers as incidental, 43% as intent-building and 18% as high-intent. On monetisation, 32% of viewers who have paid for micro dramas would pay a small amount to unlock the next episode, while 31% would pay slightly more for a full show. It recommends combining in-app purchases and advertising with personalised recommendations, re-engagement and WhatsApp-led communication.

Meta also cites campaign results. Kuku TV’s always-on Advantage+ campaign recorded 1.6x higher return on ad spend, 29% lower cost per subscription and 16% lower cost per install. Adding a static image to a video-only Reels ad set cut cost per click by 38% and lifted conversions by 21%. Hoichoi’s Sooper saw 20% higher purchase volume, while HubX/DramaTV recorded a 28% rise in incremental subscriptions.

Rishad Chindamada, head of Media & Entertainment (India) at Meta, said the opportunity is to build the ecosystem around micro dramas, not just grow viewership. Kuku’s Vinod Kumar Meena and Eloelo Group’s Saurabh Pandey also welcomed the collaboration.
