Aaj Tak has introduced Vertical TV, an AI-powered broadcast format designed specifically for smartphone users, making it the first Hindi news channel in India to offer live news in a native vertical viewing experience.
Unlike traditional television adapted for mobile screens, Vertical TV has been built from the ground up for vertical consumption. The platform uses a proprietary technology stack powered by artificial intelligence to automatically analyse live broadcasts and reframe them in real time, ensuring viewers always see the most relevant part of the action.
The system leverages auto-reframing technology trained on over five years of audience behaviour and viewing patterns. It intelligently identifies anchors, reporters, graphics, visuals and breaking news elements, continuously adjusting the frame to optimise the mobile viewing experience.
Vertical TV also features an intelligent visual composition engine that reorganises multiple content layers within a vertical screen. Through pixel-level optimisation and dynamic layouts, it preserves editorial context while making live broadcasts more immersive and easier to consume on smartphones.
Designed around natural mobile viewing habits, the format aims to deliver a seamless and intuitive experience without compromising storytelling or production quality. The service is available on the Aaj Tak app and the channel’s YouTubeplatform.
