Sony Entertainment Television has rolled out a rap-driven promo to launch Kaun Banega Crorepati’s 18th season, and this time host Amitabh Bachchan isn’t just anchoring the show – he’s rapping through it. The film sees Bachchan styled in a white fur coat, dark shades, and stacked gold chains, performing across a series of visually bold, stylised sets that lean far from KBC’s usual understated, studio-bound tone.
Titled “Sochna Padega,” the campaign builds its message around applied intelligence – the idea that knowledge only counts when you know how to use it, not simply access it. It’s a fitting hook for a quiz show that has always been built on split-second thinking under pressure, where contestants aren’t just expected to know facts but to apply them correctly when it matters most.
The choice to frame this season’s messaging around a rap format marks a deliberate departure from KBC’s traditionally formal, gravitas-driven advertising style – swapping reflective, emotion-led storytelling for something louder, more stylised, and clearly aimed at cutting through today’s fast-scrolling content feeds.
KBC 18 premiered on August 10 across Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV, and this season comes with a particularly starry contestant lineup – Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol, and Preity Zinta are all set to appear through the run, adding another layer of star power to a show that has long leaned on Bachchan’s own screen presence as its biggest draw.
With Bachchan now well into his run as host, the show continues to reinvent its marketing language season after season – and casting its most recognisable face as a rapper is arguably its boldest swing yet at staying culturally current.
