Claude models are now available through Amazon Bedrock with in-country inference, addressing data residency and governance needs of Indian enterprises.
Anthropic has expanded its India footprint with the launch of in-country inference for Claude through Amazon Bedrock, allowing requests made through the India endpoint to be processed on servers located within the country.
The move is particularly significant for regulated sectors such as banking, financial services, insurance, government and large enterprises, where data residency and governance requirements can determine whether AI solutions move from experimentation to production.
Claude models including Claude Opus 5, Sonnet 5 and Haiku 4.5 are now available through the India endpoint. The deployment also includes audit trails and access controls designed to support enterprise compliance and risk requirements.
Irina Ghose, Managing Director, India, Anthropic, said the company’s Indian customers, particularly those in regulated industries and government, have been seeking the ability to process AI workloads locally.
The company said customers including Reliance, CRED, Kotak Bank, Mahindra Group, NPCI, Swiggy and Godrej Industries have already tested or adopted Claude across different applications, citing benefits including lower latency, resilience, regulatory alignment and data governance.
The launch builds on Anthropic’s growing India presence. The company opened its Bengaluru office earlier this year and has expanded its local team and partner ecosystem. Its Claude Partner Network has also seen strong participation from Indian companies, with thousands of professionals certified through its partner programme.
With local inference now available, Anthropic is positioning Claude for wider enterprise adoption in India, particularly among organisations looking to deploy advanced AI while keeping sensitive workloads within the country.
